The Framers didn’t write Article V frivolously or with malicious intent. And they deliberately included two methods of amending the Constitution, one that does not include the sitting Congress. Please read the original, plain-language words of Article V, then invest a few minutes searching out pro- and con arguments. (You’ll easily find both but please listen to both sides before commenting.)
My personal take on Article V and holding a Convention of the States for making Amendments … yes, if conducted properly.
That means a hardball, businesslike Chairperson, well-trusted by the American public, who allows discussion and voting ONLY upon the Amendment proposed and nothing else. This is not a Constitutional Convention and there is no other business. Give the Chair the power of immediate adjournment if you’d like.
Now, who would you trust to Chair the Convention? I vote for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, or attorney Mark Levin.
