Despite even some Democrats criticizing Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg's response to the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment, the Washington Post chose to ignore that and focus in on Republicans who are "seizing" (formerly "pouncing") on the accident to attack poor Buttigieg. Reporters Yasmeen Abutaleb, Ian Duncan, and Justine McDaniel acted more as a Buttiegieg defense team than as journalists on Wednesday in "Republicans seize on train derailment to go after Buttigieg."

You can identify the worst transportation officials — at the state and Federal levels — based on how much news coverage they get.
The best of them are the ones you never hear about — to the point where you forget they’re even there.

I don’t see how anyone can defend the idea that it was ok for the Transportation Secretary to basically ignore a major transportation disaster for weeks.
It is unconscionable that it took him weeks to visit the area. Perhaps he was afraid of angry crowds or maybe even breathing the air.
