A Simple Reason why Net Zero is Impossible
WattsUpWithThat ^ | 3/18/23 | David Wojick

I have a new study out, titled “Constraining Renewables is a National Need”, that provides a simple reason why net zero is impossible. It is simply impossible to provide enough energy storage to make renewables reliable.

The headlong rush to replace thermal power generation with renewables must therefore be constrained. Congress, FERC and NERC must act to prevent disaster

Nobody ever points out that all that oil and gas in the ground came from thousands of years of growth and decaying trees — Trees that grew from solar energy.

Oil is solar, just not in real time, in God’s time.

“They’re trying to destroy western Civ with their idiotic and delusional plans.”

Actually their plans are BRILLIANT - they make the public think they’re going to give us a better world, but instead they’re setting the stage for the DESTRUCTION of our civilization.

I remember NetZero back in dialup days. Since I got kicked offline every three minutes, I concluded that it was indeed impossible.

But they’re still in business somehow.

Practical objections to "net zero" and all the related nonsense - "decarbonizing", etc, etc are very bad mistakes - because they take at face value a) That there is a problem with the "climate" (false), b) that carbon inputs are a modulator (false), and c) that carbon dioxide, in particular, is not a driver of things essential to human existence (also false).

Never accept the enemy's false premises to construct your own argument.

The only correct response to any "net zero" proposal is to oppose it on principle, to say, "stop your lies", "no", "no", and "no" again.

The author concludes “The powers engineers must know that net zero is simply impossible.”

I’m not sure about that. I’m a power engineer who graduated in ME in 1973 and spent most of my career in power. Today’s “power engineers” probably are unable to perform the simple calculations presented by the author nor understand them. Or they are too cowed to speak up for fear of getting fired. Very few or none are willing to tell the Emperor he is not wearing any clothes. There is too much corrupting money in “green” power and no money in telling the world or utility execs that coal, natural gas, and nuclear are the only answer.

It’s the same phenomena that brought down SVB...way too much “free” government money chasing useless “green” and “climate” products that nobody wants to buy.

Net Zero is possible if everything shuts down. Then we all become medieval.

“Then we all become medieval.”

Nah, Black Plague. Justinian Plague. Maybe Bronze Age or Neolithic. The only thing worse than eating bugs is eating cold bugs.

Medieval is way too advanced for where they want to take us.

I wonder if the Chinese will deliver care packages of General Tsao’s Chicken and Mooshu Pork to us.

If there’s ZERO economy, it will be net zero.

That’s what they want. We will have to eat bugs.

"Net Zero" is not intended to be possible.

It provides an excuse to crush the middle class and working class.
