The 64k question is, what causes a successful civilization (culture) to go bad in the first place?
Near the top of the list I would put the disease of AFFLUENZA - which is a total lack of appreciation of how good one has it and how it got there.
China is not ethnically diverse and has natural borders. But even so, it is not one continuous civilization, but a whole series with the transitions between them varying considerably
Rome, on the other hand, invited massive, uncontrolled immigration later in the empire that resulted in no one in it’s borders having any affinity or identification with the actual Roman empire.
Investment banking is basically what is being talked about here. Money not made by goods or service. Making money from money does not increase the wealth of a nation.
The last opportunity was during world war 2. As speculated in the Man in the High Castle, the only way to have made the USA bend the knee was if they Nazis beat America to the atomic bomb.
There are many who call themselves Christians but whose actions have been antithetical to Christianity - just as there are many Jews who identify as Jews and take what they like from the Torah but ignore or reject the rest.
We make a mistake when we put everyone of a particular group in the same box. "All" republicans ... "All" Christians ... "All" Jews ..."All" blacks/hispanics/whites ...
Consider: Christians make up the largest segment of MAGA support. Sadly, those who call themselves Christians make up the largest segment of the democrat party.

There is a poster by a history profs office door at Auburn University that pokes fun at that Beaver Cleaver style America. It uses the term “standard sexuality” as a pejorative for describing the ‘50s . Up and down that hallway in Thatch Hall are Leftist posters.

Nobody, but I was talking strictly about military invasions, so I put that disclaimer there just to circumvent the inevitable “but what about blah blah blah” arguments like this.
