“For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him.” - Romans 10:12

The gospel proclaims Jesus is Lord. In my personal life, I have known Jesus from a historic perspective and I have known Him from a religious teaching perspective. Knowing Jesus in these ways did not satisfy the need of my heart and soul. Jesus said, I am the Bread of Life. Unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood, you have no life in you. What I needed in my life was to assimilate Jesus and allow Him to live in and through me.

There are many milestones in my Christian experience. There was a time when I was bound by the world, the flesh and the devil - and seeming powerless to be free. A breakthrough came when I came to acknowledge that I was a broken man in my spirit, mind and emotions. Pride, religious and otherwise, began to crumble that day. At that time, me and my sinful friends were the proverbial blind leading the blind. The Lord, through my conscience, then directed and gave me grace to end relationships with those who would lead me back to a sinful life. These were essentially all my old friends. Ensuing years brought a desire to read and study the Bible (eat the Word, eat His Flesh and Blood), make friends with Christians, be filled with the Holy Spirit and go to church regularly under the teaching of wise and Spirit filled pastors.

My first step in knowing Jesus as Lord was acknowledging my weakness, and my need for Him – need for His help. When my pride was acknowledged and broken, Jesus’ Spirit entered my life in a great way. Walking with Him and knowing Him as Lord has meant dying to selfish desires and living as the Holy Spirit and His Word directs.

I should mention that acknowledging Jesus as Lord, does not mean that our relationship with Christ require us to be perfect. If we sin, we have an advocate, Jesus, whose blood washes away our sin. We are saved by (His) grace through (His) faith, and not through ourselves (not through our works and behavior). To understand better what I’ve been saying; to know Jesus and the mind of God, you will need to study or hear the New Testament, study the life of Jesus, humble yourself. Ask to be filled with His Holy Spirit. This will be eating his flesh and drinking His blood. This is receiving His Life in you.

From the beginning, man was designed to walk with his God. We are not whole until we return to the garden and again walk with our God. Our relationship with Jesus is the only Way back to Eden. Jesus is the ‘Tree of Life’ in the garden. The ‘Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil’ does not and cannot give us what we truly need. I encourage all to acknowledge their pride, their blindness and their need. Ask Jesus, the Bread of Life, the Tree of Life, into your life and walk with Him all your days and throughout eternity.

Jesus is the lamb of God and He is Lord!
