I still recall defending Chiang Kai-shek to my high school teacher when the onetime leader of the Republic of China on Taiwan was called a “fascist” by him.

I am anti-Communist Mao killed tens of millions and the Cultural Revolution was no joke.

People in this country seem to imitate that nowadays.

All in perspective Xi is no Mao just as Putin is no Stalin and not even a Communist.

Computer chips is what it’s about not which society is more free.

“Computer chips is what it’s about...”

Exactly! Will we and Europe allow China to seize Taiwan and their superior computer chips so they can enhance their own military and that of Putin? Especially since China is violating international law regarding their own agreements over Hong Kong. They are also ignoring international law regarding Putin’s total lack of respect for same. With 2 significant military powers totally lacking respect for or complying with norms of international law, the west and the rest of Asia needs to wake up and take their own safety and security concerns seriously.

China is not just threatening Taiwan, but also Japan and the countries bordering the South China Sea like Vietnam. Indonesia, Philippines and more, and also Australia. Even the former Admiral of Russia’s Pacific fleet was probably resisting Putin’s demand for his Marines from fears of Chinese agression on Russian territory. Chinese attacks on India’s borders are not unknown either.

I guess China has decided building empty cities is no longer working to shore up China’s economy. Maybe military activity will be more successful??
