Stop the Senate from ERAsing Women! ERA
Eagle Forum ^ | 4/25/2023 | N/A

After fifty years, the Equal Rights Amendment is again rearing its ugly head. After a contentious hearing on the ERA in February, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer plans to bring legislation (S.J. Res. 4) to the floor to remove the seven-year deadline on Thursday, April 27. There are 53 co-sponsors for this revival of the ERA, but because the vote will be on ‘cloture,’ 60 votes are needed to advance the resolution. While proponents claim that this amendment will give women “rights,” it actually does the opposite.

Thanks to the efforts of Phyllis Schlafly and the dedicated women she rallied to the cause, the ERA failed to reach the 38-state threshold needed to ratify it for inclusion in the Constitution within the legislated seven-year deadline and the unlawful three-year extension. Thirty-five states ratified it by 1977, and five of those states rescinded their ratifications. Since 1979, several federal courts and the United States National Archivist have confirmed that it is indeed dead. Yet, feminists ignored these facts and implemented their “three-state strategy,” encouraging Nevada (2017), Illinois (2018), and Virginia (2020) to ratify well past the deadline, and now claim ERA has the 38 states necessary to become a part of the US Constitution.

They are saying that the required 38 states have ratified the Equal Rights Amendment. But a few states have rescinded their ratification of the amendment.

If legislation passes to somehow delete the time period for ratification , there will certainly be Court challenges to that action.

This bulletin is from two years ago. It’s out of date. The DC Circuit Court of Appeals killed the ERA a few months ago.

If this thing is supposed to guarantee equal rights for women, how can it do that if they don’t even know what a woman is?

Gee the ERA has not passed in all these years and women are somehow still around and doing fine.

How can that be?

THIS bulletin is old, but if what I read last night is correct, the Senate Dims are trying to revive the ERA with another illegal extension of the ratification period.

All political posturing, but dangerous nonetheless.

This is merely virtue signaling. Even RBG said the only way to revive the ERA was to start all over again. A federal district court killed the unconstitutional extension 40 years ago, and a few months ago the DC Circuit Court of Appeals put a stake in its heart. This is much alarm about nothing.

What rights don’t they have now? What will they have dreamed up in all those years? I can just imagine!! They have the right to be ANYTHING they want to be no matter how ridiculous - including being ridiculous! Mostly they are “proctological nuisances” to be kind about it!

For the record - I AM WOMAN and can’t think of any right I’ve been denied!

“S J Res”? Does the J mean a joint resolution, as in republican involvement?

What?? They don’t even know what a woman is. How can they give equal rights to those they don’t even acknowledge existing?

The bill is anti-transgender. How dare they!! There are no women. And their rights are subservient to whatever side wants to win a scholarship playing women’s sports.

“Those dips—s can’t even define what a woman is!”

Woman: An adult female of the species Homo sapiens.

What’s so hard about that?
