No argument from me.
I doubt John Bell Hood cares if a Yankee fort was named after him.

Fort Affirmative Action
If they are going to rename them. Then rename them Fort 1, Fort 2, Fort 3 .... etc.
No one offended and no one inspired! Perfect!
He also appears to have a Silver Star Ribbon, a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
This soldier did more for the country than John Bell Hood ever did. At least he was fighting Commies and not fellow Americans.
I think so, too.

Question, have you served? I have, I find it despicable senile Joe could get away with renaming bases that every veteran finds dear to him/ her. No one asked the 6 percent of America’s population (Vets) about this national disgrace.
…..and American’s are going to wonder why no one will rush to America’s defense under a senile old man’s reign….. as we are witnessing.
Best we can hope for is a reversal of this renaming scheme when senile Joe is gone……the anger is silent and huge. Spitting on the veterans WILL have a huge backlash.
How about a garbage scow?
One of the problems with the left’s racial obsessions is that minority persons of actual accomplishment (such as this distinguished general) will always be viewed as having reached distinction because of racial considerations and leftist virtue signaling. If this general were a white person with the same record, only the ethnicity changed, would this base be renamed for him? So the argument becomes not whether the person deserved it but why he received the distinction.

Yes, I imagine our resident pro-Soviets will be coming to this thread soon to talk about how killing commies is evil.
Judging from his impressive record, there is no reason to believe he is your classic "Affirmative Action" selectee. The impetus behind changing the name of the base was apparently, not to have it changed just to honor a minority out of sheer political correctness, but to suppress the old name because of the wrong-headed crusade by the Woke to make all references to the Confederacy disappear. I think, is they are going to change the name anyway, he is a good candidate. It's a plus that he's a Texan native son.
300,000 Yanks, not enough I guess.
Hush, foreigner.
Yeah.. sure. If he was white and had the last name of Jones, we’d be seeing ‘Fort Jones’ in Texas... do you really believe that?
My Dad new him and respected him. M6 old man came up through the ranks PV-1 to O-6 after 32 years. I used to play pool at a pool hall called STIX that Cavasos would frequent and he would play soldiers killing time and get the skinny on what their thoughts were.
That write up sounded like any award write up. The main qualification he had was that he was the first Hispanic general.
Then again Harvey Milk had a ship named after him so I guess that’s enough.
People should just keep calling it Fort Hood.
Knew

Neither of us have any way of knowing either way, so believe whatever you want. If your only way of discussing things is sarcasm, see my tagline for more information. Repeat as necessary.
