Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream, which previously gave the cold shoulder to police officers, is suing the City of Seattle for losses it alleges resulted from the decision by officials in the summer of 2020 to abandon the Police Department’s East Precinct in response to the George Floyd riots which led to the creation of a “government-authorized invasion," the deadly anti-police Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), later renamed the Capitol Hill Occupied protest (CHOP).
According to the federal lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington on Wednesday, the chain claimed that its constitutional rights were “overrun” when officials decided to “abandon” the 6-square block area of Capitol Hill to BLM and Antifa rioters. Molly Moon’s is accusing the city of supporting and encouraging “a hostile occupation of that neighborhood.”
“This lawsuit does not seek to undermine CHOP participants’ message or present a counter message,” the lawsuit stated. “Rather, this lawsuit is about the plaintiff’s constitutional and other legal rights, of which were overrun by the City of Seattle’s decision to abandon and close off an entire city neighborhood, leaving it unchecked by the police, unserved by fire and emergency health services, and inaccessible to the public at large, and then materially support and encourage a hostile occupation of that neighborhood.

Another lawsuit to be settled by payments from taxpayers!
Molly Moon’s Ice Cream shop is trying to have their ice-cream cake and eating it too.
These people got the wasteland they asked for. I watched a video where a guy walked around downtown Seattle. There was drug addicts getting high in the open. People were sleeping standing up, leaning on buildings, face down on their knees and many more awkward positions. Homeless people were everywhere. Garbage and tents littered the sidewalks. It was a real dump.
I am just not understanding why they are suing.
They demanded that the police be defunded and they got want they wanted.
The left uses lawsuit settlements and consent agreements to fund their causes with public money where direct funding would be illegal. But, if incorporated in an agreed judgment or consent agreement, they are good to go. So you sue Seattle, the Mayor or the Council approves a settlement and taxpayer money flows.
Ah, I get it - wink wink, handshake, money in back pocket, rinse and repeat.
Now all decent citizens of the ice cream shop should put that company out of business. Let them have their lawsuit be their only source of income. If they get paid off, it will open the door to hundreds of lawsuits. It could financially bankrupt the city. The current management is already morally bankrupt anyway.
