No, that’s only how long it took to release a news item. The investigation has been ongoing since day one.

While research animal welfare laws generally do not apply to mice, legitimate researchers do make the effort to treat the animals humanely. Research involving mice go through the same ethical reviews as research involving other animals that are subject to animal welfare laws.

The fact that these mice were kept in inhumane conditions is further evidence that this lab was operating clandestinely, outside of legal parameters.

Don’t believe all of the hype about CRISPR. We genetic engineers have tons of methods to alter DNA. CRISPR is just another tool in the genetic engineering toolbox. The discoverers/developers of this technique hyped it heavily in order to sell more CRISPR kits to researchers. It really is not as revolutionary as the hype would make it.

Excuse me, but what does this have to do with Fauci?

I can’t believe the hostility directed at this man just because he happens to be the expert that Trump selected to spearhead the pandemic response. I suppose directing hostility at him did accomplish one thing: it undermined Trump’s efforts to stop the pandemic and helped Biden win the election.

Was anybody caught there? Supposedly vacant??? Just right up the road from me. 20 miles. I think that place used to sell Chinese granite countertops years ago.

Because of the way mice are kept in research facilities, they are unlikely to escape. This was a clandestine lab, but still probably used the same kind of cages. Even if a mouse did escape, I doubt there would be much of an impact.

Mice are engineered to be infected with human Covid by replacing the mouse ACE-2 receptor gene with the human ACE-2 receptor gene. They are sold to researchers by biosupply companies.

The primary consequence of such mice escaping would be that they might interbreed with wild mice, resulting in a small number of wild mice that have a human ACE-2 receptor gene. I doubt that the human form of the gene would persist for very many generations.

I think the Prestige representative might have just been an expert consulted to identify the kind of mouse found in the facility. Since Prestige develops antibody based drugs and therefore uses mice, they probably have all of the equipment and reagents necessary to genotype mice.

It would be very surprising if a legitimate biotech company were to be involved with a clandestine lab. Such a scandal could kill a company.

It goes back further than that. A bunch of us were yelling at Congress in the 1990s about this issue and other acts of Chinese infiltration that compromised nation security.

Clinton was too busy sucking up illegal Chinese campaign contributions from China to care. He pushed for and received MFN status for them.

We started building the chains of our enslavement decades ago.

I do. PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology. Years spent in research and related work for the government. I know a thing or two about the research world.

I worked with a guy who had a job in the Fairfax area in the 1990s. He’d stop each morning at a coffee/donut shop...across from some modern business building (3-story type).

One day, he stops for coffee/donuts and the building is no longer there....so he asks the coffee shop lady what happened.

Week prior....one morning, she arrives and all-hell is breaking loose. Some security guard in the parking lot at 6 AM. Someone had broke in and released the ‘chimps’.

Two hours pass and some hazmat-type truck arrives....maybe a dozen guys and they put down all of the loose chimps. Couple of guys in suits arrive to assess things, and by late afternoon...some crew arrives to tear down the building. Takes the whole weekend but by Monday...there’s nothing there but gravel.

Nothing ever said...nothing in the newspapers.

Anyone’s guess if this was an official lab or a unofficial lab.

I remember that... and the press bimbos and pretentious men who didn't give a damn about Clinton selling out to the Chinese. As if it never happened? Glad people like you remember. Ever wonder what liberals members of the press are getting in return for 'looking the other way'?

Congressman Dix actually used part of a series of articles I wrote on this topic as part of his talking points.

I helped write the report that FR sent to Congress.

I knew we were in the trenches back then.

Only Ed Timperlake and Bill Triplett (from the Washington Post, believe it or not) gave a damn.

Good point.

I vaguely recall reports of various outbreaks such as black plague over the years. Weren’t most of those in California?
