That’s just a way to get gas cars off the roads. Do not believe what he tells you.

they are pretending that the EV is the alternative to the gas car
the reality is most will be forced onto public transportation

If that includes electric EVs, great.
Easy.

there’s no thought or “science” behind this. Edicts like this are the diktats of self-important, out-of-touch and ideological central-planning apparatchiks, buried within agencies like the EPA, Dept. of Energy and Consumer Products Safety Commission

Yep, if anything it should be 58 MPK, miles per kilo-watt.

From the article:
Sorry for the sarcasm, but car manufacturers are already paying record penalties for these fuel efficiency standards, and the price they pay in penalties is going up as well. GM estimates that these new rules could cost the industry over $100 billion in new penalties.
Correction - It is going to cost consumers $100 billion in new penalties...

What is the gas mileage of a vintage Corvette?
What gas mileage does a Porsche get at 175 mph?

PINK UNICORNS IN EVERY DRIVEWAY!

I own 2 vehicles that exceed 58 MPG. One is a Yamaha SR400 motorcycle (66 MPG) and a Honda CTX700 (61 MPG). The next best is a Suzuki DR650 at 55 MPG...not good enough. The performance requirements are pushing the limits of physics to extract efficient mechanical driving capability. It's a farcical exercise in destroying access to useful transportation.

Sounds like back to Fred Flintstone cars for the masses.

67 or 68 cougar, base, XR7, or eliminator model.
I had 67 base model but it wound up being sold to solve a problem and keep peace around the home.
Maybe one day……..

If just 20% of cars are electric in the next 10 years, that is hit.
(I think)
If just Teslas are calculated in this, I bet that will be no problem.
