If someone or country wanted to really cripple the USA with a cyberattack the three areas I expect to get attacked are air traffic control systems, financial systems and the electrical grid, take those three areas down for an extended period of time and the country would resort to anarchy quickly

I’ve seen what people are like during power outages when they can’t make their morning cup of coffee.
ATC systems are usually air-gapped.
Financial systems aren’t as susceptible as people think.
However, you’re spot on with the electrical grid. Also vulnerable are water treatment plants, manufacturing plants, and transportation, specifically rail. It’s not if, it’s when.
We discuss the “assume breach” mentality with organizations across the country, and it’s troubling how few take it seriously.
Number 1 suspect unfortunately would be the US gov.
