From what I remember from my grandpas( Colonel US army, doctor) friends and history Hirohito and company didn’t even surrender after Hiroshima.
Kinda late now.
Also seem to remember Japan arming everyone on the island. They were ready to keep fighting like the samurai’s they were.
And Hirohito was never tried for war crimes, although there were plenty that the Japanese committed in his name, especially the way they treated the military POW's.
