If God were to prevent humans from doing bad things, then humans would just be pawns or robots. Instead, we have free will.

What God wants is for humans to have several decades each to choose:
whether they will submit gladly to His benevolent Lordship, for an eternity of protected bliss,
versus
an eternity of freedom from Him, leaving them completely unprotected from hell's sadists.
