Look at the chart. I don't know what the numbers mean but most of the total is not for the EV.

Sorry if I’m being dense and missing your point. As I interpret that chart, the reading should go Right to Left — the COST is $17 a gallon for EV. But then a credit is built into the system, which brings the apparent cost down. Then another credit. Then another credit. By the time the homeowner is charging their car, they are pleased with the apparent cost of $1.21 per gallon. Such a bargain!

But on the gasoline side, an equivalent chart would read Left to Right — the COST of gas might actually be $1.21. But then a tax is added to it. Then another tax. Then another tax. By the time the car owner is fueling at the gas station, the real cost of the fuel is $3.50 a gallon. Well, at least it’s down from $4.00!
