The first three or four seasons of M*A*S*H under Larry Gelbart’s helm are some of the funniest, best-written episodes of any TV series ever.

It became very preachy later.
Still love the movie the most.

Agreed, the last two seasons of the show that focused mainly on the misadventures of Colonel Potter, Klinger, and Father Mulcahy at the very most brought in a chuckle or two and certainly were not at all comparable to the many side splitting moments with McLean Stevenson, Larry Linville, and Wayne Rogers plus a few characters like Ugly John or General Hammond or Ho John who were from the book or movie.
