The laws over there might be more strict.
Canada has charged players criminally before.
Kicked with FORCE. I saw a slo mo close up and his foot kicked out at Adam’s neck then the side of his head. What was going through the guy’s head to do such a thing???
Looks like a homicide to me.
Longer clip shows the collision. Hard to tell but it looks like he got flipped around by colliding with the first guy while the poor guy fell forward. I leaning toward freak accident.
His left leg went up that high for one reason and one reason only.

Pro ice hockey is still one of the sports that for rules purposes is still intertwined with amateur competitions in a lot of ways. Major sports like hockey, baseball, football, golf, and basketball have not changed their basic premise since they were invented. And too many times rules have been changed or re-interpreted to assist the game that were really stupid.
Probably the worst example was in NCAA basketball in the early 80’s. Around Christmas time when a lot of college tournaments were on the NCAA decided to change the rule on intentional fourth quarter fouls making any foul intentional, two shots instead of one and one if made. They did this to take the judgement part out of the call. I called part of the Great Alaska Shootout and what it accomplished was the fouling player had to make sure the shot didn’t get off to create a three point possibility. Sooo, the shooter got knocked into the third row and if the defender was making a legitimate effort to go for the steal and there was contact, no flagrant, just a contact foul. A lot of shooters got deposited on the seats, some knocked silly, so the rule was changed back in February. Never know about rules. Tnhey may not be what they seem.

extreme recklessness is how Petgrave played all the time. Disregard for rules, routinely penalized for it.
Petgrave loves recklessness more than he loves the actual sport.
If he loved the sport he would have taught himself control of his body at some point during his many years of practice, to do the job and not just check a guy then allow his leg to flail about like a new person at it who would have less clue of what their limbs were doing as they checked and fell for the first time.
Hate crime
They know the instruments of their sport are lethal. That’s why if you break a stick it gets tossed on the ice immediately. Pucks flying at 100 mph. (Saw Barry Ashby get hit in the eye with one) Very few players leave the ice except for collisions. It’s a manly sport. They drop their gloves, when fighting. Yeah, it’s a manly sport.
