The legend of the great Ichiro Suzuki continues to grow.
snip
That league, called Nippon Professional Baseball, has brought us many great MLB stars, including league MVP Shohei Otani, but none have had the impact of Ichiro Suzuki.
After playing 9 suburb seasons in the NPB, he made his MLB debut back in 2001 and had one of the greatest “rookie” seasons of all-time, winning the Rookie of the Year and MVP after batting .350, stealing 56 bases, and racking up 242 hits, all while being pretty much the best outfielder the league has ever seen.
He played for 19 season until age 45, where he retired and moved back home to Japan to live out his life as one of the greatest baseball players of all-time. But just because he was retired didn’t mean he was done with a career. He continues to participate in exhibition games, one of which took place last night and I have to admit, it was a strange match up.
For some reason, Ichiro suited up to play against an all girls high school baseball team, and to say he dominated would be an understatement. He pitched a complete game shutout on 118 pitches with his fast ball topping out at 86 miles per hour, which is far from shabby for a 50 year old outfielder.

He’s out.
Why did anyone think this was a good idea?
It is amazing how this real woman dominated the major leagues, playing against men, for two decades! I salute her!
“Why did anyone think this was a good idea?”
If I wanted to attract a full house to a girl’s baseball game, I think having Ichiro on the field would help. But yes, it would be a really weird game.
I love it when a trans wins a Miss Universe like event because those woke women need to be humbled, but it saddens me to see that happen to women’s sports.
wow... ichiro? seriously? that like me going into a high school song writing contest and bring out “the long and winding road”
Getting his macho fling?
You are on the border of being a bit year of the catty right now, Sam.
Gluing the tracks of their tanks to the ground while the sky filled with snow
The pro women folks thought it would showcase how well those young girls would do against an old man past his prime.
They know nothing about men. They proved it yet again for the world to see.
I also think one thing, apart from his age, has been entirely glossed over by everyone.
Lthis 50year old retired baseball player pitched a shutout against another team all on his own. This 50 year old retired baseball player, was NOT A PITCHER. He was an outfielder in his career. To pitch to this level when not being a pitcher, at 50...? Incredible skill.
A fair corollary would be women's golf or tennis pros: superbly skilled but no match for men. Lexi Thompson played in a men's tournament recently and, predictably, she missed the cut.
You walk like Greta Garbo, but you talk like Yogi Bear. What’s going on?! lol
Touche FRiend!
I dont think women should be allowed to play in mens sports either. I dont care about any other factors. Even their best don’t make cuts. Its not about them. Mens sports are not there to be used as a platfrom for attention whoring women to use to promote themselves. Thats all they are doing it for. Guys need to wise up and see thats whats going on and say no more.
