Kinda makes you shudder doesn't it? I think of that scene pretty often.

There was some talk of quartering people in homes after Kartina when the facilities at Fort Chaffee were strained. That idea ended when locals saw how the refugees acted. They expected to be waited on hand and foot not even lifting a finger for KP or cleaning duty. Volunteers were asked for to take care of the "guests". Screw that.
