Yet I’ve searched just a little and fighting has been going on since 2014, several thousand Russ living in Eastern Ukr were killed by Ukr shelling. They negotiated, Russ warned Ukr about joint NATO. A considerable population of Russ living in Eastern Ukr wanted reunification with Russ. THEN they invaded.
It’s not as clear cut as the pro Ukr here say. Too bad they didn’t settle on some sort of political re-alignment of the eastern slice of Ukr. Now Putin has it anyway and as the article said an entire gen of Ukr are ruined—if not more.
Zelensky has done well with the war. He has some fat real estate around he can retire to.
Correction: the fighting has been going on since 2014 when Russia invaded and occupied a part of Ukraine. As for those killed, they were on both sides as a result of the conflict started by the Russians. Also, civilian casualties were overwhelmingly in the first two years of the conflict and had decreased significantly in the years prior to Russia's 2012 invasion. There was no targeted shelling of ethnic Russians. Please stop with this Russian propagandistic nonsense.

The eastern Ukraine is not majority Russian or pro-Russian. Russian speakers are not ethnic Russians. Zelensky himself grew up a Russian speaker. My wife is from Alchevsk in the Lugansk Oblast and her family and friends there are patriotic Ukrainians. Of course, Moscow has a history of killing Ukrainians there both in Stalin’s time and in the present day. You seem to want to reward Russia’s long history of genocide by going along with their criminal land grab. Shame on you for buying-in to Moscow lies.
