This one has troubled me. I was watching coverage all day on 9/11. I remember them announcing that building 7 had fallen at least 20 minutes before it happened.
What would have been the point of bringing down Building 7?

You almost certainly didn’t.
The person who who made the comment about the building falling before it did was on the BBC. So unless you were watching a BBC feed you didn’t see that “announcement”.
I watched it all day as well. I specifically remember them commenting about how much Building 7 was burning, and they were speculating on whether or not it would fall. Then it fell.
