Great! Now cure my tinnitus.
My hard of hearing comes from damage of the fine hairs in inner ear, not from gene malformation. When they can find a way to replace the hairs, it will be a time of rejoicing.
It does sound like good news. What makes me skeptical are the words: “China, science, Harvard, & Massachusetts” within the article. By reason of association, this could be more junk science.
And “gene therapy” means monkeying around with the human building blocks. That did not turn out so well with the covid vaccines.
I’d rather be deaf than dead.
I told my doctor I was having a problem hearing my wife talk.
He said, “That’s normal.”
the big thing will come when they can regrow cilia in the inner ear that are broken with age and abuse.
I’ve read that they are currently early trials for just such treatments.
regrowing the cilia in the inner ears of old people is what everyone wants. (people want to have this procedure to be as simple as various eye correction procedures that restore vision in old people) there’s news on this if you google “regrow cilia in the inner ear”. and set it for the last year. I cannot tell how soon it will be before you can easily get this procedure done. It could be 5 years. It could be 10 years. Its coming.
