How Low Will They Go?

This happened in my school today. Here is the copy of an email I sent to Steve Gill, a conservative talk show host.
Steve,
I am so upset that I just don't know what to do. I am a teacher in a TN public school. Today, one of my seniors burst into my classroom and exclaimed, "I've been brainwashed!".
He then explained to me that his class was told that they were going to a political debate, but there was no debate to it. They were greeted instead by a group of liberal Dem's who were pushing Kucinich for President.
They sat there and explained to the kids why abortion is OK, and pushed their liberal agenda down the kids throats. There was no one there to rebut them or debate them. They even offered to help the kids register to vote at lunch, but I think the rest of staff caught on and they skeedattled out of the school.
I looked this group up on the school schedule for visitors and such, and they are listed as "Democratic Rock the Vote". I looked this group up on the Internet and found that they are part of Rock the Vote, which I believe is part of MTV.
It is my understanding that this group started out as a neutral entity whose purpose was to simply help get kids become more aware of voting, but now that we are nearing an election they have openly come out and said that they are backing Dem's. These people do not need to be sneaking around our schools pushing their liberal agendas on innocent kids.
I really don't think that the school staff understood what this group was about until it was too late. I don't think my principle or anyone else in my school system would do this on purpose.
I don't want to give you the name of my school because we actually have a decent, conservative principal....and the bad guys would use this to get rid of him. The bad guys would also have my butt for breakfast if they knew my name, but if you think this issue in important I will give you more info if its done discretely.

Here is the website of Rock The Vote if you want to look it up..

This group was invited to the school by a student who is a member of the young Democrats.

If I was a parent at that school rather than calling a conservative talk show host I'd be over at the school demanding Republican representatives be brought in to share their side. Otherwise I would go to the school board.

I'm NOT surprised. Those that vote left and the libs are becoming more brazen in their tactics of getting their message out. The gloves are off and conservatives need to respond in kind.
Are you going to request a conservative to come in, talk to the students (pick a topic: Ayn Rand, Pro-Capitalism in America, School voucher initiatives, NRA advocates....) and give 'equal-time'??? Why not....??? Fight fire with fire.
Conservatives continue to pull the curtain back and expose the libs for who they are and, 'DO' PAY ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN! Democrats are masters at deception and manipulation by hiding behind friendly, fun, innocent sounding monikers and causes. Gloves are off....are yours???

I would demand an explaination from the school board as well as a letter outlining what steps led up to this event, and what steps will be taken to insure that it cannot happen again.
I would also ask that a letter be sent home with each child explaining that the school does not support any specific party and that an error was made when a particular party and its agenda was pushed without rebuttal.

Did you write this?
Steve Gill's on 99.7 WTN, fair enough. But, I've seen so many vague and fact starved urban legend type e-mails over the years, and I'm admittedly jaded.
What school? What town?

I am cool with the fact that you are jaded. I am too, but I have to be very careful about this. We are a super small town school, and there is a lot of politics going on in our county right now. I can't afford to have any of my kids get hurt because of this. Yes, I sent this to Steve at 99.7. I hope he replies, and if I'm convinced that he can handle this discretely I will give him all the info he needs to expose this. My hope is that I'm not the only one who complained. I'm still just in complete shock that this happened at my school. I will keep you freepers up to date if Steve decides to develop this topic.

I agree with your position, but I'm a Teacher, a very conservative teacher, which is a dangerous place to be in this political climate. I'm not afraid to loose my job, but my kids need me. So, I have to play it cool and hope that a parent comes forward. Some of the seniors were pretty upset, so maybe we'll see some parents tomorrow.

I sympathize with your stance and please do not in anyway interpret this to be a snipe: However equally important their intellectual education is their moral and charactor education is just as important. Standing up for your rights is in itself the best education one can give to children. I would be more concerned that the lesson they will learn is that it is OK to trade their principles for acceptance in society. Intemidation only works when people are actually intemidated.
