Masked Man Takes Diapers, Money In Holdup Thief Binds Victims With Duct Tape

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Independence police said that a masked man took diapers and money during a holdup at a Dollar General store on West Highway 24 Tuesday night.

Investigators said that the man forced a handful of customers and employees to the back of the store around 8:15 p.m.

"It was pretty scary thing to go through. I wouldn't want to do it again," said clerk Clint Stark.

The thief bound several victims with duct tape before leading them into a storage room.

"I thought he was going to shoot us when we was facing the wall, but thank God he didn't," Stark said.

The man tried to disable the store's surveillance system before he fled out an emergency exit. No one was hurt.

Police said the thief was a black man in his mid-20s who wore a dark ski mask.

One of our local Family Dollar stores had a guy drive into the front door, put his car in park right by the checkout counters, grab the diapers and try to back out of the place. He would've made it, too, if the undercarriage hadn't gotten tangled up in the door frames.

They found him five minutes later, running down the street, Huggies in hand. His reason for making the store into a drive-through? Well, it was late, the store was closed and his kid needed diapers.

Ok, but did he actually have a gun? Did he leave on foot or car? What size diapers did he steal? Description of the guy and clothing would be a little helpful. Hmm, just how would one know a masked man was in his mid-twenties???
