Viet Nam Service; A Loser for the Democrats

The recent release of the service records for President Bush adds another chapter to what will be a disaster for the Democrat Party. While members of the media report the opinions of leading Democrats and search for additional ways to discredit Bush for his service, the voting public may have had enough.

One of the problems with a sustained binge is that one day you wake up with a hangover. The eight year binge known as the Clinton Administration was the result of (and, additionally, resulted in) denial, parse-speak, distortions, and outright lies. One of the many hoops through which candidate Clinton, and, by extension, his supporters, had to jump was the sticky question of some mysterious draft notice and when it was received, if it was ever received at all.

You may remember the night a television reporter caught up with Mr. Clinton during the New Hampshire primary and breathlessly confronted the candidate to report proof had been found that Clinton had indeed been sent a draft notice. One could see the wheels spinning behind the eyes as Clinton attempted (on the fly) to concoct an answer that addressed the question without calling himself a liar.

The binge was on.

Fast forward 12 years. The Democrats, who spent eight years defending Clinton despite obvious, possible criminal lapses in candor, now feel free to call George W. Bush a draft dodger.

The Democrat Party has not learned the lesson that the feminists are currently experiencing; credibility matters. You can't lie about military service for eight years then attack the service of a President during the middle of a war.

Call the detox unit - the binge is over, but the hangover remains.
