What better way for President Bush to demonstrate a bold new vision for America than by choosing National Security Advisor Dr. Condoleeza Rice, a black Woman with an impeccable resume, as his running mate?

If we wanted the first statement about why we should have someone in the vice presidential position be because the candiate is a black woman, we could all vote Democrat.
I actually like Rice, but you shouldn't say we should put her there because she is a black woman.
I like Cheney actually better than Bush, so I sure hope they don't dump him.

Why is it that some feel it's their job to make the decision for the President? It's his call, good, bad, indifferent as to whom he feels that should be his running mate.

No way. Cheney is a great debater and is solid as a rock under fire.
Condi is great, but wilts in high pressure situations and can often look unsure of herself when challenged.
Besides, the only people who buy the garbage being thrown at Cheney (like Haliburton) would never vote for Bush anyway.

Condi becomes Vice Pres and Dick becomes National Security Advisor.
I've got a better idea. If Condi is vice, then move Cheney to Secretary of State, and promote Perle or Wolfowitz to National Security. Then we can watch heads explode on the Left.

In a further attempt at humour... wouldn't it be fun to watch the reaction of the media and dems to a rumor of changing the veep spot to read BUSH/MCCAIN

I'll look at it from another perspective: it won't mean a damned thing to the black community. They are so attuned to (and jaded by) the neo-Marxist pathology that Democrats have subjected them to for so many decades, they'll have an almost autonomic, knee-jerk negative reaction to a black female rising to that level of prestige and power under a Republican administration. An 'Aunt Thomasina', if you will. Every sound and motion she'd make would be subject to scrutiny and ridicule by the Left, and black Leftists, especially. As qualified as she might be, both intellectually and ethically, I'd hate to see her put herself through that. This country is so divided that, by appointing her as a running mate, Bush would be acting as the equivalent of a chicken rummaging through the feed trough, looking for one last unshelled grain of seed. Cynical? Yes.
Realistic? Unfortunately, yes.

......."would take a buzz saw to the Affirmative Action plank in the Democratic platform and get the attention of black voters long taken for granted by the democrats, the party of segregation."
I don't think this is true.....look what the dims did when Bush appointed the blacks in his cabinet.....did it "get the attention of black voters?" All I heard was name-calling by the Democrats about the blacks and others of color in Bush's cabinet. They were constantly bad-mouthed and labeled the dreaded "C" word. Conservative.

My thoughts exactly......well, except you put it alot better.

"Be it this election cycle or next, eventually the road to the White House goes through Chappaqua." You certainly are cutting a wide swath around here with your deathless, breathless howlers, newbie. Sounds like something Eleanor Clitt might have puked up on the McGoofy show. You are stuck with Hanoi John, LtGov to Mikey Dukakis and buttboy to the Chappaquiddick Scuba Driver, among other things. There is no Hitlery scenario any more, outside the fever swamps of Cleveland Park, Streisand's pool parties and the NY Slimes op-ed pages. The fact that the question keeps floating about underscores the looming bankruptcy of the National Socialist [Dem] party and their enablers. Look at your standard bearer, for Pete's sake. He has a record of treason and sedition that would make Benedict Arnold blush. He is a dissembler and a common gigolo. He is an elitist in all respects devoid of any attribute of the truly elite. He has no chance of being elected in peace or at war, and we are at war. And as for your slurs on Cheney, when the memoirs of the Bush-Cheney administration [2000-2008] are written, we will understand very well why the President selected Cheney for the long haul. A matter of principle, not politics. Deal with it.

I am a BIG Rice fan, but if Cheney is up to it the job is still his.
I just would hate to see him work himself to death.
To: KieranMichaelLalor
The problem is that Cheney knows ten times as much about the government than does Rice.
