Is anyone else hearing that The Attorney General is in critical condition? I hate to spread rumors but this seems rather reliable.

FReepers are often the first to know. Moderators please pull this if it's nonsense, but if true, no matter how you feel about him, John Ashcroft needs our prayers ASAP.

I've heard a bunch of different things and basically have no clue has serious or not he is.
Either way I'll be sending prayers for him

Supposedly he's in critical condition and they can't even operate. I'm surprised I haven't heard anything until now.

Maybe the ICU stay is just precautionary. He has our prayers, too.

Being in ICU doesn't mean how serious he is .. They can just monitor you more closely that way and since he's the AG, I'm sure he is being watched closely
With that said ... pancreatitis {sp?) can be VERY serious

I think anyone in his position would be placed in ICU.
Hard to tell how critical his condition is.

The doctors need to get the infection under control before they operate. Waiting for the surgery is a good thing.

Subject: Urgent Prayer Request for John Ashcroft
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST
An urgent call has just been received from an Assistant Attorney General at the Department of Justice asking us to spread the word that Attorney General Ashcroft is in desperate need of prayer. They are asking all of us to get the word out to our churches and membership immediately. AG Ashcroft is in critical condition due to something called Gall Stone Pancreatitis. It is an infection of the pancreas due to a gall stone. You cannot live without your pancreas but the infection is so bad now that they cannot operate. Please pray that the infection will end and that the doctors can take care of the problem or just pray for healing. Jim Combey has been sworn in as the acting Attorney General for now.

Many prayers for this man and we will light candles for him in the morning at liturgy and submit his name to the altar.
Would love to see his lactate level...

Pancreatitis is nothing to mess with. Our 24 y/o daughter spent 56 days in the hospital a little over a year ago in 4 separate stays. She was on IV and PIC line and was one sick little girl. She is still on numerous medications to keep things in balance, it is in remission, but not cured.
Hers is due to a mutated cystic fibrosis gene, so the alternative is even worse! Praying for our AG, he is a Godly man, doing a thankless job well!

The President just said that he talked with him last night, and seemed to indicate that he Ashcroft was alright.
He said something about trying to get his pancreas to settle down, but that he was OK.

Mrs. Ohio, thank you for this update!
Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
Ill cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
