How long will your CD-Rs last? Best to buy?

The above link will take you to page 3 of an 8 page thread. I'm trying to learn from this. I bought some 'made in Japan' Fuji CD-R to use for important backups. Supposed to be made by Tayo Yuden which are some of the most reliable. I have less reliable, cheapo CD-R too.

If you have data that you care about, back it up.
If you have data that you care about, back it up to something that is not CD-R or CD-RW.
Good alternatives include magnetic tape.
I know someone who hates maxell stuff.
and I have a couple maxell cds that take forever for my computer to read...but I have some other maxells that play just fine as music cds in my car
