Techie Help. Klenz Progressions ?? virus??? I cannot use my email

I have mailwasher. I have Norton Sysmatec Pro. Have tried to download my mailwasher but my Norton tells me that the MAILWASHER is infected with a virus....

Huh.

The virus was in a piece of mail from my website.

Went to the website and got rid of all my mail.

Have tried numberous times to restart my mailwasher but it continues to lock up and tell me that there is a Klenz Something coming from my site and it is trying to access my computer. The server intentionally closes. I assume they are talking about me.

I have rebooted this puppy about ten times.

My question is, should I just open my outlook and know that my firewall and virus support willl take care of everything?

Make sure your Norton antivirus definitions are up to date (manually start the "live update") and then do a full system scan of your machine. Only then will you know if you're infected with something.

I'm assuming you're using a Window's operating system , If you can't get rid of the virus with Symantec ( seems a little strange that it can't delete or quaratine the virus )

You might have to do a fresh clean install on your system, do you have a back up CD a Re- Install disk? And how often do you keep your anti virus software updated?,

best of luck to you and email me if I can be of any further help,

also do an on-line scan after you do your Norton - go to www.antivirus.com, do the free scan...or get the stinger tool from macafee,,,

What happens is that the mailwasher calls down the mail when it is opened and then Norton opens a window telling me that it detects a Klenz something and do I want to do the recommended delete. Since the mailwasher doesnt bring the mail down but only copies portions of it, it really doesnt delete....

This is my very child-like grasp of the situaion.

Norton can miss things.

Download Antidote Superlite & scan your system with it:

(It's freeware.)

Norton can usually tell when something attempts to write an infected file to your hard drive.

If no virus are found you might uninstall MailWasher, then delete the folder it was in (probably loaded in "Program Files") and then reinstall it.

I am not sure. I deleted all my mail at my website. Then I deleted all my mail at my isp, it downloads from my website....then I opened express... no problems and mailwasher cleared.
