My Guinness Bar Towel finally arrived in the mail today. "Let the good times overflow." Well, better late than never. This has to go down in advertising history as one of the worst handled promotional schemes ever.
TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: badadvertising; bartowel; betterlatethannever; guinness
I will give them credit for their email and web site activities lately, especially the carb / calorie counter that shows Guinness having less than a Sam Adams! It amazed me .. I thought a pint of Guinness was like drinking a loaf of bread.

OK, let me see if I can remember that far back ... the Guinness folk ran an advertising promotion on their web site where the first n people to sign up would get a free bar towel. Well, many did and we waited, and waited, and ... waited and soon it started to be a joke, it was taking so long. You would see replies about waiting for something to happen end with "yeah, like when I get my Guinness towel."
Well, that day has finally come. Pigs can fly, DemocRATs make sense ... well, no, the earth's rotation did not change. But the towel did finally arrive.
