A Riverside General Hospital nurse was shot in the head Friday night when two men tried to rob her as she left work, police said.
Margaret Meremikwu, 40, was confronted outside the hospital at 3204 Ennis about 6 p.m. by two men armed with a shotgun and demanding money. She refused to hand over anything and was shot one time in the right side of her head, police reports show.
She remained in critical condition late Saturday at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Too bad. Maybe she should have given her money to the punks.

I realize that the Houston Comical likes to report the sensational murder/mayhem stories, but this is the third (that I've seen) of these otherwise meaningless reports that you've posted here. Do you have a point?

Maybe she should have fired first.
I don't entertain the victim role.

I've noticed the same. Not sure what his point is? Maybe I should start posting the murders that happen daily in Jacksonville or Miami?

Maybe he's an armed robber and he's trying to warn us of what will happen if we don't comply with his demands. Just a theory.

Too bad. Maybe she should have given her money to the punks. Right, then the thugs figure they have a good plan. If they to have work harder for the few bucks or end up with nothing, maybe they will take a different tack like burglary.
Of course, if she shot 'em dead that would make it a moot point.

Good point. If you are going to resist, you should carry a gun and know how to use it.

So, you've noticed that too? Max and I had this discussion yesterday. This was Max's posting logic: I live in the Houston area and I like the city, but it is a very violent place. People should be aware of this fact and conduct themselves accordingly. You can see it here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1156434/posts in post #11. Max is trying to protect all of FR from the city of Houston. Max needs to move to a place where Max feel safer.

Max feels safe.
Max will not be moving any time soon, thanks.
Max posts articles he finds interesting.
Max reads posts by others he finds interesting and skips over the ones he does not find interesting.
Max suggests others do the same.

skips over the ones he does not find interesting. I guess I'm not interesting :-(

Perhaps we should bog down FR with all murder/mayhem stories nationwide. I guess there's always the abuse botton.

Max posts articles he finds interesting.
The idea is to post items that will interest others, as well. The only thing "interesting" about this thread is that more and more people notice your unusual posting choices.

Max definitely needs to move. (btw, if Max can handle living there, it sounds like anyone can!)

Yes, where innocent, unsuspecting people and their homes (mobile and otherwise), automobiles, and pets, are sucked up into violent, unpremeditated tornados.

Well, Kansas is a dangerous place-- there are tornados. Please behave accordingly. May I recommend Houston? There are10 tornados in Kansas for every 1 in Houston. (estimate only) And, in Houston, they never get over F1 or F2 on the Fujita scale. Usually, your mobile home only gets rolled in Houston-- rarely are they reduced to shreds.

But everyone's being robbed and shot and stabbed in Houston.
