"Throwing up" reads weird, doesn't it..Cherry? I can just imagine some people are thinking "bulimic"...LOL! But those of us who are forced to this course of last resort, know how painful even THAT can be.

Botox..sounds great. Maybe starting with a little around my laugh lines...:~)

Be well..sw

don't get me wrong.....I don't want to get sick, but with a very bad HA, where you are even afraid to take an ASA, when you do finally get to the point where you get sick, it really is blessed relief.....

I've heard about this Botox treatment for migraines before. For what it's worth, I haven't heard anything unsafe or bad about Botox, other than John Kerry using it!

My daughter found that soy products cause her migraines, and it is very difficult to avoid soy. Skipping a meal and weather changes also trigger her headaches and my husband's headaches too. Similar causes seem to run in families.

On the other hand - my father had terrible migraines until he had an angioplasty. I wonder if he is taking beta blockers - I'll ask.

Never tried botox but I did discover that cutting out all sugar and corn from my diet helped mine.

Good luck and my sympathy. Migraines are horrid

Botox can also have serious consequences, which people don't talk about, such as permanently paralizing some muscles in the face. Before doing it, I would highly recommend that you research both aspects: the good and the bad, find out how effective (not just how fashionable) botox treatment really is, and the risks, to make sure you are really willing to take the risk for the potential benefit.

I know migrains can be horrible.

I am sure you tried "everything", but I think you may want to take one more look and see if there may be something else, that you may want to try first.

I also heard, that preservatives in foods can also cause them in sensitive people. So, if you haven't tried, you may want to try eliminating all foods with preservatives (which includes cold cuts, frozen dinners, icecream with articifical ingredients), etc. from your diet and see.

A friend of mine is taking Elavil (amitryptiline) and he said that helps.

Someone recommended accupuncture, I would try that before I would try botox. I have heard from a number of people chronic pain being helped by accupuncture. But if you do it, be sure to find some little Oriental guy, who has done it for 20 years, not someone who took a 6-week course.

Botox treatment may ease migraines

"Then I tried Botox injections; this was approximately four years ago," she said. "I have not had a migraine headache in four years."

Botox is not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatments of headaches, though neurologists have used the substance for years to treat conditions characterized by uncontrolled twitching or spastic muscles.

"This is a very safe procedure as long as you don't inject too much in the wrong place," Hewitt said.

More research needed
Botox works by temporarily weakening or paralyzing muscles. Used in the wrong place, it can distort your facial appearance for a month or two. Botox does not have any other side effects.

In treating migraines and other severe headaches, there are still some questions -- such as what is the optimal dose, and where should Botox be injected to get the best results?

"It doesn't work on everyone; it doesn't work on all headaches," Binder said. "You still have a population even in our study of 15 to 20 percent of patients where it did not work."

====

As I said, go to the web and Google and read up on it, and see what you think.

Before doing it, I would get a second opinion, not just specifically about Botox, but to see, if there is anything that you may not have tried.

Then, after you feel you informed yourself sufficiently, you can decide to try it.

Hi SW, one of my kids gets bad headaches, ultimately vomits, etc. I try to have Gatorade on hand for afterwards, seems to restore the electrolyte balance or something.

Have you tried simple oxygen therapy? I mean a bottle of O2 in your home which you breathe when you feel a migrane coming on.

Here's the link on oxygen. Evidently hyperbaric oxygen is also used (need to find a facility, though):
