ZOT! ENCOURAGE CHENEY TO LET McCAIN or POWELL RUN as VP?
self

Posted on 07/07/2004 9:46:54 PM PDT by IreneGOP

Hi Freepers!

I'm curious to see how everyone here feels today about Dick Cheney.

Honestly speaking, as much as I like him and admire his achievments, I tend to think that he might be a huge liabilty on the BUSH 2004 ticket.

Anyone here think McCain or Powell should get the position because insiders (like the GOP) tend to think, no matter what, Cheney may be a liability for Bush's reelection?

I'm so frustrated right niw and though Free Republic could offer an objective viewpoint on this subject.

We Rsimply can't afford to lose this election, even though I'm disgusted by Bush's lack of enforcement on the failing issues concerning mass illegal immigration.

Any thoughts?

We won with Cheney once, to dump him is to act like Dims.

Go post your garbage somewhere else. Cheney is a valuable asset to the President and he's not going anywhere.

McCain a heartbeat away from the Presidency? No....no.

The problem is that Cheney is perceived as more conservative than the other two in question. Given Bush's record on things like education and spending, McCain or Powell might also be liabilities.

Don't be silly. Cheney is not a liability as far as I can see. His experience and know-how is an invaluable asset to the White House.

I honestly can see no reason to "change horses in midstream", to coin a phrase.

Until Bush says otherwise, Cheney's the VP. Period. We don't need any of this distracting from defeating the real enemy of freedom: Flush the Johns!!

Why do I get the impression you aren't a Republican?

VP choice will make no difference in the race. Never has, and never will.

I don't think that McCain is stable enough to serve as POTUS. Powell, like Condi, has a lot of smarts but neither has ever run for office and therefore cannot fulfill the political dimension of the job.

As Bush said so succinctly today, "Chaney could serve as President." Relax, our side isn't in trouble--the other guys are.

B.S. post.

Cheney is a hoss.

Pres. Bush loves him and he has done a fantastic job, as the President often points out.

Cheney stays right where he is.

Get used to it.

Message for ANYONE trying to dredge up the useless and moronic idea of dumping the best VP in the last half century, Dick Cheney:

STFU.

"The problem is that Cheney is perceived as more conservative than the other two in question. "

Not a problem - that is one of Cheney's ASSETS.

McCain looks older and more unhealthy than Cheney. Powell blew it with that rediculous "village people gig". A photo opp from hell.
