The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Did some fish samples from around Oak Ridge once...didn't eat fish for 1-2 years after that.

I wouldn't wanna know. Just like I don't wanna know what's in the water in the pond where we go swimming. I'd rather live in blissful ignorance, since it hasn't killed me yet...

*sigh*

But when the BIG kiddos go back to school, the nice quiet summer at the college where I work will be alllll done. It's been so nice! They do still have summer programs and play host to various conferences and such, but those people don't bother us much.

THIS week there's a running camp going on. Lots and lots of tall, impossibly long legged, supremely fit teenage girls wandering around. I feel so inadequate...

Surprise late night move, sorry!

Night Moves
Words and music by Bob Seger

I was a little too tall
Could’ve used a few pounds
Tight pants points hardly reknown
She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high

Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy
Out in the back seat of my ’60 chevy
Workin’ on mysteries without any clues
Workin’ on our night moves
Tryin’ to make some front page drive-in news
Workin’ on our night moves
In the summertime
In the sweet summertime

We weren’t in love, oh no, far from it
We weren’t searchin’ for some pie in the sky summit
We were just young and restless and bored
Livin’ by the sword
And we’d steal away every chance we could
To the backroom, to the alley or the trusty woods
I used her, she used me
But neither one cared
We were gettin’ our share
Workin’ on our night moves
Tryin’ to lose the awkward teenage blues
Workin’ on our night moves
And it was summertime

And oh the wonder
We felt the lightning
And we waited on the thunder
Waited on the thunder

I awoke last night to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962
Ain’t it funny how the night moves
When you just don’t seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closing in

Let's just say that I get my catfish plastic-wrapped from the store. Store-bought catfish are farmed and they don't have that muddy taste to 'em.

It makes me SICK! LOL

It wouldnt be so bad if they didnt have such attitudes to go with those bodies. I comfort myself with Fried Green Tomatos when I get down over that. "Im older and I have more insurance." hee hee hee!

I'm so perverse.

*ahem* We did NOT "wimp out."

We woulda stood out in "mist" but not fer five minutes in pouring down rain. It's been raining all evening.

We went to dinner, then did a little shopping. Jr. bought a new skateboard. Actually we fronted his allowance to cover it. He's broke until about Thankgiving...(not quite).

Nice new place yuh got here. I'll have to "dwarf it up" a bit...

Meat! Yay! Glad you got home safely. Guess there's no time for anime, eh?

You're going to have to help me persuade Talon that FMA is a good anime. He thinks it's too dark, can you believe that? ;-)

*pooh (pu) n., pl. poohs or pooii (pooz, pooey). 1. A Bear of Very Little Brain. 2. Anthropology. A Dude of Very Little Brain.

Here endeth the lesson.

;-)

It's just amusing sometimes to work on a college campus, where the average age is something like 19 during the school year, and even lower during some of the camps. If you're over 25 you're invisible. That's not a bad thing, mind you, but sometimes...

Unattainable Stick-chicks. I like that. Most of them seem to be Frosty Unattainable Stick-chicks, too.

As for dark...well, at the moment I'm about ready for some lightheartedness! There's a good proportion in the series as a whole, but the last few episodes have been pretty brutal.
