The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

There are just whole worlds out there that I have yet to experience, aren't there? Heh...

Yes. I would elaborate on that, but the statute of limitations has yet to run out on some of it. :-) But it was fun.

You just made me think of something...I recently* watched The Music Man for the first time, in which he said something like "if you keep putting things off for tomorrow, you'll end up with nothing but a pile of empty yesterdays." If someone they would listen to would say that to the Frosty Unattainable Stick-chicks, perhaps they-- and a lot of guys like I was 20 years ago-- would be a lot happier.

*Actually, about an hour ago. I don't usually watch musicals, but last Sunday my cousin handed me this one and said "you ought to watch this." Finally got a round tuit this eve.

A little angst is good for you! I think the next couple ought to be pretty light - you've met their sensei, yes? She's pretty good comic relief.

Maybe there's something wrong with me, but I like the bleak brutal episodes as much as the funny ones...

Can someone explain that to me? I saw a thread about it, but it didn't really say what the deal was.

The bleak ones are filling in a lot of holes...and I don't really mind them. But just seems like there have been a lot in a row.

That's one of the first DVDs I ever bought...we had the record growing up and memorized all the songs, including the parts that skipped. ;-) Good musical.

Well, the series is only 52 episodes long, they've got to get this whole plot crammed in somehow!

There's one series I have - "Lost Universe" - the first twelve episodes are almost all silly, light-hearted SF fun. Then it gets into the main story and goes dark most of the rest of the time, while still managing to have silly moments. I think FMA is shaping up the same way.

And a wise hobbit lass you are. I've doubtless et a lot of fish that had who knows what in 'em; but apparently none the worse for the experience.

He bragged about doing it, or someone witnessed it, or what?

Not that any of the above is a good thing. What a two-faced lying bustard he is...

To hear them talk now, both at once and Bushbots to boot...or rather, Nixonbots, though we now know Nixon was just another Bush Evil Empire stooge... <</DU Idiocy>>
