Let me see if I can explain this properly.
They come out and put their hands together (kind of like when you get your kids to pray at night) and bow to the people.
What is this, and have you noticed it?
The peasants... I mean the average Americans have dangerous cooties.
Very... Manchurian.
I'm sure there is some body english in there that says, "Oh, look at the little people coming to see us!"
Are you joking? I guess I've never watched them greet crowds. Suppose they don't want to touch the Great Unwashed?
Did you see him bounce the soccer ball off that girls head the other day and then smack her upside the head? What was that? Are we their playthings?
It looked totally disrespectful to me!
Kind of like...
"There, but the grace of gold, go I."
It's a gloabally PC greeting. It combines a little from everywhere. I noticed the phenomenon mid-way thru the Clinton regime's gig. It reminds me of something in Star Trek which Spock initiates when dealing with other Vulcans.
It's his entire smarmy hand-gestures that get me. Have you ever counted all the phony gestures? The quick point of a finger at a person followed by the knowing grin. The praying hands. The uplifted hands. The clenched fists, especially at NAACP meetings. It all smacks of insincerity and insecurity.
Compare JFK's to GWB's gestures. GWB;s are clearly those of a confident leader.
It's a Buddhist greeting... he must have learned it from his secret CIA mission into Cambodia.
Well, honestly would not put those two together. . .but a thread the other day did discuss the 'eastern origins' of this greeting.
That, said; it was basically agreed; that for a President/King and First Lady/Queen wannabe; it was inappropriate - by any definition.
Well, it is a very 'egalitarian' greeting; and therefore totally hypocritical as expessed by Kerry and 'Terayza'. . .
and kind of tiresome watching them; not exactly 'effortless effort' on their behalf; more like. ..a 'self-conscious' remember where the camera is. . .
Kerry's fingers always have a message. . .something for everyone - even Veterans; when they hold signs he does not like. . .
"Yes, dear, that's a wonderful suggestion."
Ever notice how they kiss each other? Looks like she really doesn't love him.
Can't shake hands with a Budhist if you're trying to shake out their pockets.
I know a lot of quirky people who do not shake hands. One I know quite well will not shake hands, shave, keep a checking account, or stop wearing a Speedo while working in his yard. All 280 pounds of him............
Perfect; think you captured the whole thing; algore style. . .Can see him now, as a matter of fact!. . .
