Man was not meant to build on barrier islands. What are you talking about? All you need is some federally-funded conservation efforts, the occasional insurance payout, and flyers urging residents to "SAVE THE ISLAND!" or whatever. Piece of cake. Mother nature doesn't stand a chance. < /sarcams >

Same thing happened to Long Beach Island NJ a half century or so ago.
It's been almost that long since the mid Atlantic states have seen a real hurricane, boy are they going to be surprised.
