The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'll stick with C-SPAN, thanks...no pundity! Next best thing to being there...

Actually, better than being there. I see more, can hear over the cheers, and can FReep, and those special things guys do when there is no "company".

I used Andes mints to ward off that...boxes and boxes of them. Eventually got sick of them and that was the end of that.

Back from the class...it was intro stuff since it's just starting out, but I really think this will be good for me.

On the other hand...can I rant?

I walked into the class and sat down in the second row. I was the only girl, as I expected (girls just don't seem to take networking classes, more's the pity), and also the oldest - the rest of the class is all 19 or 20 year old boys, mostly of the sloppy gaming variety. Not that all gamers are like that...but you know the type.

Second I sit down, I hear this conversation start in back of me - first boy says something like "*mutter mutter* cute." Second says "What!? That woman that just walked in? DUDE, you need to get out more." First one hastily says "NO", he meant so-and-so. Now...I realize that to them, I'm an old hag already, and that I don't exactly dress "hot", also that all of this matters zilch, so I spent the rest of the class feeling annoyed, and most of all feeling annoyed that I was annoyed.

When am I gonna grow up and stop being a hyper-insecure mess of a human being? Geesh!

But the class itself is good. I'm going to enjoy that, in any case. *sigh*

hmmm---wonder if there's any sugar free mints like that I could use. (I tried BreathSavers, but they had another effect i'll only tell you about if you beg me.)

On the bright side, today my sister paid for the bike she bought from me this summer, so I was able to order the snowshoes I've been eyeing before they went out of stock. And I have food, and time now to catch up on at least a little of the convention.

So the first one is "worth getting to know", and the second one is "an idiot unworthy even of your contempt". Enjoy!

First one wasn't talkin' about me, either.

I think I completely pass beneath the radar there.

Does make me wonder what people say when I'm NOT within hearing distance.

Like I said, though...mostly I'm angry at myself for being angry. I can't wait until I'm old enough not to care, if that ever happens.
