Good News!
I'm not even in California, and I hate De La Salle. There is no place for recruiting in high school athletics.
This is the first year that Texas private schools may participate in UIL (public school) athletics. There are rules to prevent athletic recruiting here in Texas. I will tell you in a couple years if they are effective.

Their star graduating quarterback was shot dead in Richmond two weeks ago just days before leaving for college. He was killed by a friend who was jealous.
Perhaps that had something to do with the loss?

From what my son tells me, the coach had a heart attack awhile ago and has slowed down, a few of the other coaches left to take positions in various colleges and 11 of their 12 starters last year didn't return this year.
I guess the guy getting killed might have had an effect also. My son says "I knew their streak would end this year."
