Okay...my first total vanity post.
I just went to the ESPN website because I wanted to see a video of that brawl between the Texas Rangers bullpen and the Oakland A's fans, but you have to download something called ESPN Motion---which is fine except for those of us who work in a secure environment and can't load programs onto our computer.
Let's hear some other reasons why ESPN (website or TV show) is really starting to suck.
For example, the upcoming bio pic about Pete Rose...one would have thought ESPN would have learned its lesson from that awful football series last year; or from its ill-advised Season On The Brink movie.
I feel better now. Comments?
Feel free to move to chat....I'm not sure how to do that.
www.texasrangers.com
it loads the MLB.com player which is just windows media player in a window
use a program called streamdown to save the file to the HDD
right click on the video window and choose properties copy and paste the link into streamdown
streamdown can be downloaded from www.download.com
you might not be able to load streamdown in your secure enviroment, but all computers should have mediaplayer installed by dfault.
If you go to espn.com, you had better have High-Speed internet and a pop-up blocker, otherwise it will take about 5 minutes to load, and you'll have 15 pop-up adds on your screen.
Tough luck. Since ESPN is providing it free, I don't see the problems with the restrictions. You can go somewhere else if want. Nobody is forcing you to go to ESPN. You can always catch the brawl on SportsCenter, or even Fox News.
www.texasrangers.com is free, forgot to mention that :P
I work for a humongous investment bank. We can't do anything to our computers. I can easily download it at home. I just felt like a good rant.
thanks
Yeah the lesson they learned from their football TV show and Season on the Brink is that they got really good ratings and made ESPN a giant fat pile of money. The ony problem with the football show was that it irritated Paul over at the NFL and ESPN decided that wasn't a good idea so they didn't bring the show back. But they did put it out on DVD for one last big payoff.
This is why I'm a football fan and not a baseball fan. At least football players have the decency to wait until their OFF the field to act like gutter punks.
; p
I don't think I'll be watching the Pete Rose movie.
It did kind of blow, but it got excellent ratings. All about the benjamins.
There are other websites. SI.com, Foxsports.com, CBSsportsline.com, etc.
What i-bank do you work at? I used to work at UBS and Deutsche Bank.
I'd feel better responding to your question when I am at home. For some reason I never use my company name in posts when I freep at work. Maybe I'm being too cautious.
I work at CSFB.

I thought the Junction Boys was a good movie that they made.
At least they tried with that series. I don't like the concept of it that much but some of the episodes probably had some truthfullness in them.
Not at last years Hula Bowl.
Man, you are SO reaching. The Hula Bowl isn't professional football. The incident to which I referred was "professional" baseball.
Comparing college players to professionals is weak, man. Seriously weak.
"This is why I'm a football fan and not a baseball fan. At least football players have the decency to wait until their OFF the field to act like gutter punks."
You may be referring to a pro game, but did not mention it in this statement.
