The Titans dominated the first quarter, but the refs decided that little Peyton Manning was being treated unfairly, so they had to help him.
The calls were the most grotesque jokes I've ever seen.

Well they're up 14-3 halfway thru the 2nd.
Titans are Tennessee, not Texas (they were in Texas as the Oilers, but that was years ago). It ain't political, it's a matter of who is the "annointed one." Peyton Manning is an advertisers wet dream. Steve McNair is perceived as an also ran by NFL bean counters. They want to promote the more marketable commodity.
Manning is a white QB in an overwhelmingly white media market, with national marketing clout. Steve McNair is a black QB in what is perceived as a white media market (Nashville/Tennessee) and so isn't marketable. Donovan McNabb, on the other hand, is a black QB in an acceptable inner city black media market. Makes all the difference in the world.

of course! I like the 49ers, therefore that call was just fine by me. ;^>
Seriously, I can see the argument on the Giants/49ers call, but that was one call and it was balanced out by others in the game that went the other way. This was a game full of screwed up calls, all miraculously going against the Titans.
Or I'd be crying about an "Oh & 2!" here in the Titan's Birthplace.

I'm a born Texan, and my son is a Junior at A&M, so there is a great bond between Tennessee and Texas in this household.
I root for the Cowboys and Texans (unless they're playing the Titans or the 49ers). I have two letters from Roger Staubach from when I had my first corneal transplant and knew Calvin Hill when he was a high school football star, so Texas football will always be special to me.
To balance things out, we in Memphis didn't exactly bond with Buddy when he did a "drive by" on us for a year at the liberty bowl, but couldn't be bothered to do any events here, or do training here. Thanks, but no thanks, Bud.
I had the good fortune to ride on a flight from SF to Memphis with Tyrone Calico after he went to the west coast NFL combine before he got drafted. He's a really nice and level headed kid. When he got drafted by the Titans that cemented my current interest in them. Having lived in SF during the Joe Montana era and having been at The Game (1981 NFC Championship Game, SF v Dallas) I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the 40 "f'ing" Niners. Having grown up in NY I used to like the Giants and the Jets, but the cheap shot injury to Montana ended the interest in the "gernts" years ago. The Jets are still living off of Broadway Joe, and that's just sad.
My feelings about most NFL teams go on like that. The Redskins and Packers have always been "the enemy," but how can you not pull for Brett Favre after the performance the weekend his Dad died? Bottom line, I enjoy the NFL and have several teams I pull for. It really gets confusing when two of those teams play each other. But I still enjoy it!
Peyton was great at University of Tennessee, and he's still great.
He made the state of Tennessee shine for years...you should be proud of him.
