Rather's 20 September TV News "apology"
CBS News (TV) tonight | 9/20/2004 | JoeBob2004

Rather's mea culpa tonight contained a telling error.

Rather's mea culpa tonight, sandwiched between damnations of George Bush for Iraq and Afganistan failures and long diatribes by John Kerry, had a very telling error in it. He described Burkett as a former member of the Texas "Air National Guard." As anyone knows who has seriously studied the fake documents, they appear to have been written by a former member of the ARMY Guard, of which Burkett was one, not by TANG members like Bush and his commander.

Dan has clearly reached his limit of competence and that of his staff when they can't even properly edit his material.

that's because he's back on the National Guard story and proving Bush is a liar according to John Fund on Hugh Hewitt right now. The apology was a fake.

I agree the apology was disingenuous. He clearly apologized only for using the documents.

I should have added, however, that the bar for Rather to have anything further to say regarding Pres. Bush's ANG service has been raised very high. He will no longer be able to get away with some half-baked story without being called on it.

Danny boy is a buffoon and the pipes are indeed a'callin.

I don't know if he is so wrapped up in hatred or what the issue is, but he is clearly going off the deep end on this thing, and he is sucking CBS down with him.

This whole episode is too amazing to imagine! am I watching Jerry Springer? Geroldo? what is going on with CBS News?

Connie Chung! SHOW US, SHOW US, SHOW US,...

Rush Limbaugh accurately reminded his audience that there is something really fishy about this "apology". It lacked outrage at the people or person who was responsible for deceiving CBS, causing their ratings to go rock bottom. He said, if I was given a document and I decided it was legit, and broadcasted it to my fans, and found out by outside sources that it was fraudulant, I would be livid, I would rant and rave and angrily, on the air, tell my audience that I will do everything in my power to find and disclose the responsible party if for no other reason to bring credibility back to him. mr. rather, instead, calmly, nonchallantly said he was deceived and didn't even say that he intends to find and reveal that source that gave him this fraudulant memo. He didn't even apology to President Bush for the "inadvertent error", lying about his military record. Say Goodbye forever danny "girl".

It seems to me that Americans should be outraged by the number of proven lairs that have wrongly accused Bush of lying. How could anyone believe what is said by the mainstream media or the Kerry campaign. For that matter, Kerry himself. All of them have been exposed as liars, meanwhile not one can offer sustainable proof that Bush has lied about anything. Vote Nov. 2 for 4 more years.
