Can any Freepers help with links or info on this? My husband is arguing with the resident flaming liberal in his office.
Cheney responded last night to opposing UNILATERAL sanctions against Iran when he was with Haliburton. Can you do some FR research and confirm that there were not MULTILATERAL sanctions (UN voted) agaisnt Iran when Cheney was with Haliburton?
Many thanks to anybody that can help.

thanks again
It is similar to our sanctions on Cuba. We do not trade with them, but everybody and his brother does. The only difference is that with Cuba, they have little to trade except cigars and sugar, so our unliateral sanctions are more effective, since our tourists pretty much stay away. With Iran, they have oil, and so other countries are willing to trade with them.
Suggest to your husband that he never argue with a fool, lest some bystander think they are are both fools. I've learned that, unless you think you can change their minds, which is unlikely, because liberals have a different world view and values, or you can influence an audience, arguing with a liberals is a waste of energy and leaves one feeling angry and needing a bath.
You know that is very true...I usually just tell them that in my opinion they are wrong and that I will probably not change their opinion and they surely will never change mine. And leave it at that, with a strong smile I might add.
There are not multilateral (UN Voted) sanctions against Iran.
The US sanctions on Iran are unilateral.

The US is pressing the UN for international sanctions.
Many Thanks for the responses, especially for the links Dr. Z.

A great CATO article-in Cheney's own words- is found at

Give 'em heck!
Thanks!
You're welcome. By the way, I just happened to come across another site of interest that your husband can use at the water cooler tomorrow:
