I have been talking to a tech at bellsouth.net, and he says there is an internet backbone crash in California that is affecting eBay, MSN, and a lot of other stuff.

Yes, I seem to be logged into FR, but many other sites are unavailable, including google.

I've got Google, no problem. Ebay's fine.

I just did a Google search. MSN and eBay are working fine for me, too.

They're blowing out the lines. Once every two or three years they have to hook up a particle "blower" to different T-1 lines around the country and get the particles out of the Internet lines. If you have an external modem you may want to put a bag over it to keep any dust from blowing out onto desk.

I have to maintain a network for a living. Other folks want to see foxnews.

Perhaps it's your ISP, but mine is fine.

Hmmm. The fact that we are posting indicates no big problem.

I haven't noticed anything today - seems to be zipping right along.

I did have a significant slowdown earlier this week, but it was a local (Comcast) problem.

I've tried that excuse, too. They still charge late fees.

Good luck with that. FWIW, I'm not having any problems with other sites right now.
