My husband and I (both Republicans) voted today. The "head counter" said they were averaging 200 people each day this week. Early voting began on Monday, and, yes, we voted for President Bush, et. al.

They said they started this "early voting" so more people could get to the polls to vote. Our county lost several voting places because of hurricanes, and we are a relatively small county (about 50,000). Larger counties (Palm Beach for instance) have lost many voting places.

What concerns me is the Supervisor of Elections has been advertising on T.V. that if your voting place was lost, you would be sent a card telling you where to go to vote. We've never received such a card, and elections are less than two weeks away. I wonder how many others have not received their cards?

We've had a huge turnout here in Alachua County. They went from five voting machines to 20.

I think, unfortunately, that most of them are Dems (although the first votes in my county were cast by a Republican couple for Bush!).

As for the card, maybe your voting place wasn't lost? They probably don't notify unless there's been a change. That's how they're doing it here, at least.

In any case, tell all your friends to vote early. It's faster, easier, more secure, and just in case there are problems (Dem riots) on election day, you've already got your vote for Bush in!
