I've got the solution: quit watching the msm. Hardly anyone else does.

I really don't think this story has any legs. Remember, the MSM doesn't have the power they did even 5 years ago.

Sure it has legs, else Brit wouldn't have led with it.

"BUSH is DOWN over 5 points on Iowa Electronic Markets and Kerry is UP 5 points!"

Last I heard of them before your post, they were getting a little out of control. The numbers you cite sound like a normal market correction.

But I would also add they may be too well known at this point to be completely accurate.

We really need a Freeper "doom and gloom, the glass isn't just half empty, it's going to break and cut someone's artery" graphic for threads like this.

I kind of like this one:

I've been saying that we are in the middle of the MSM's last gasp, last push to elect the Cadaveric Kerry. EXPECT the polls to continue tightening to a tie or a 1-2 point Kerry lead by Thursday and then our "comeback" begins. Just be patient, this is playing exactly like Australia (Howard vs. Latham). There are still a few inning to play and Kerry is using his tenth pitcher while we still have our starter in the game with our bullpen ace warming up.

The Republicans have responded several times to this, and so has NBC,....

NBC's response has been to claim the White House distorted Miklasewki's report. As for the Repiblican response. Kerry is getting ads played in battleground states in prime time. The Republicans are issuing press releases which are read by disinterested newspeople . A response is MEANINGLESS if it does not reach the same audience as the ads do.

Even a statement by Cheney will be either excerpted, edited, or followed by instant analysis, An ad in the middle of NCIS or Law and Order is neither edited nor analyzed. It stays there, uncorrupted by things like the truth. It strikes me that the people at the RNC could have used Communication Theory 101.

Steven, it is not whining. It is anger at an entrenched media that will spin the news to the masses anyway they see fit. I am doing my part to get out the vote. My wife is spanish and we go door to door in local hispanic neighborhoods to spread the word. I am offering transportation to anyone of them who has no vehicle.
Of course it is an absolute depressing thought of that hosehead looking F--- being announced as the winner by the smarmy faces in the media.
Steven, and if it is whining, that is fine. The whiney feeling motivates me.

What makes me think its manipulation is Bush is actually UP in the Total Vote Share Market. I think the Winner Take All Market is reacting to this NYT "story".

I agree. the RNC should be all over this, exposing Kerry for the liar he is. This is the perfect opertunity.
I don't expect people to be smart, and know what the real deal is, If people were smart, kerry wouldn't even rate in the poles.

People don't know that the stuff was moved before the troops even got there, people don't know that this "high Explosive" is useless to the average brainless muslim terrorist, that it isn't something you can put in your pocket, and use to blow something up. It was raw stuff, like flour, useless unless you were well educated in explosives, and it would have taken 40 semi's to have "looted" this stuff as well.
Bush should take this, expose Kerry's lies, expose the lies of the MSM and use it to close his campaign. Heck, he can toss in Kerry's traitorous acts in 1971, his cowardness in Nam, that Kerry did NOT serve two tours, but only 4 months.
Bush can attack on this now till election day.
He might loose if he doesn't drop the hammer on Kerry, make him cry.
He needs to get tough on Kerry.

I'm basically a news and political junkie and I've turned off most of the "news" and media this week. Everyone is sick of this election. We are turning it out more than listening at this point. The debates are over. It's gone on non-stop for MONTHS. Anyone who plans to actually vote has made up their mind. This is connecting with the Michael Moore crowd, the Kerry anti-Bush supporters. In terms of an Oct. surprise, it's about as mild as any we've seen.

The story has obviously been spun from the beginning to do harm to Bush and demoralize his base. I doubt it will hurt Bush because it is the type of story that requires multiple thought times to assimilate. More times you think about it, the better chance of asking the How question. And thats where the story starts to unravel. How are 300+ tons of anything moved? You work up the scenarios and then compare them with the time line and conditions present.
And it appears you have allowed yourself to be demoralized. OK, now shake it off and reengage the bad guys. Too much to lose; that temporary feeling could become permanent.

Do you personally believe any part of the story? If not, then why are you so quick to assume that anybody else does?

Do you believe everything the main stream media tells you? If not, then why are you so quick to assume that anybody else does?

Are you really just so much smarter than everybody else?

Sometimes the "elitism" displayed right here by Freepers far exceeds that of any liberal. Relax, those who support Bush are not swayed by the story. Those who support Kerry would believe anything that he says. Those that are "undecided" didn't read a newspaper or watch the news today (that's why they are still "undecided"), so they don't even know about the story. What's your big concern?
