In our neighborhood, it is coming from the house behind us that set up the most elaborate hauted house I have ever seen. At one end of his pool is a dragon that breaths fire - literally 20 feet across the pool.
I opened the back door to listen. Whoooshf it goes when he fires it off followed by screams from the kids.
Only draw back is we will get 500 trick or treaters to the house tonight - that is how many pieces of candy I gave out last year. This year I stop at 300 pieces then it is lights out.
Oh, and each little kiddie is getting a small piece of paper slipped into their trick or treat bag. It looks like this:
That is Kerry walking on the flag in case you had not seen that picture before.
LOL - you sound just like Peta - leave the kids out of it - geesh. - Oh and give out 500 pieces of candy tightwad. :-)
bttt
How cool. I bought 12 bags of candy. I went with my grandsons to a carnival and got back around 7. My husband had the lights out. He said he was swarmed.
Heck, all those 6 and 7 years olds are probably voting this election. What do you mean keep them out of it!
Besides, those kids are sharp. You drop a paper in their bag with the candy and they notice right away. So I stopped.
MHO, I would leave the kids out of it. The parents I would hand it to maybe, but not the kids.
If I was an "undecided" voter it wouldn't sit well with me as the parent of the child gets it. We are hardcore here, but not all are.
I know you mean well, and I agree with you 100%. But I think it might backfire.
PETA, PETA, PETA!

I've had 23 trick or treaters tonight. That TRIPLES last year! We're in an old neighborhood with no street lights . . . .I wish I'd thought to put in a pro-Bush message with my candy . . .
I live in a big old scary looking Victorian mansion on top of a hill. I bought candy every year for years and years and have only gotten two trick-or-treaters in the last 15 years. I didn't buy candy this year, instead I went over my parents and handed out candy to all the little darlings. We had 43 kids there.
My sister's brother-in-law dressed his 2 year old son in an elephant costume and put a Bush/Cheney '04 tie around his neck. He also put Bush/Cheney pins all over the elephant costume and gave one to each person that gave candy to his son. I thought it was a great idea.
We live in a town that has two sides of the tracks. The other side of the tracks comes to our neighborhood because it is safe...and we give out candy.
I got a roll.
Heh - I thought I was the only one that did that. The wife and the girls are out with the 3 yr old niece and a couple other little kiddies from around, as usual. I'm here in my room with all the front lights out and the doors locked. We're set back from the street about 120 feet and we never get but a small handful of kids anyway, so whenever I do buy candy for the little (and sometimes entirely too big) goblins I get something we like, because most of it is still here at the end of the night.
LOL. He said he ran out of candy. I found 4 open bags in the kitchen with some left and questioned. He told me that's what he saved for the boys, ("the good stuff", his favorites :')
I hope I have enough candy. Pretty soon they're going to get into the stash I bought for myself!
That's so adorable! I wish I had a kid to do that to... Man those elephants are cute this year. Plus nothing like encouraging little Freepers early! YAHHH! Go Rep-Ellies!
Okay, time to compare. I'm at over 200 kids so far. And some of the costumes really do look great. One Harry Potter looked very, very real.
I haven't been keeping track of how many, but my husband did spot the bus they arrived in parked down the street.
I haven't had a Harry Potter yet. Lots of animals, witches, and princesses! Not really gouhlish this year, for a change! Two teenage girls even said they liked my Bush/Cheney yard sign.
I had a dude pull up in a sports car - his kid gets out of the passenger side - gets halfway up the walk and Dad screams at him to come back and get his costume helmet - meanwhile dad is talking on his cell phone in speaker mode. Kid comes up - gets some candy - gets back in the car and dad drives to the next house - I was apalled. What a scumbag.
