The very first time I actually saw Snufalufagas.
I remember yelling at my mom that he was real, she ran in and by the time she did they had already moved on to 'The count'.

Sesame Street came out when my youngest brother was 3 years old, and he watched it a lot; but I don't recall paying too much attention to it then.

When my kids were small, they watched it and so did I. My favorite characters (maybe they used it in more than one episode) were the ZZ Top Muppets singing "The ZZ Blues." I guess the show offered some things for the moms' entertainment, too.

My kids, son especially, enjoyed watching that chef guy tripping and falling down the steps with "Ten coconut cream pies!" or whatever his tray was holding at the time of his signature pratfalls.

Great jazzy song. Watch it every day. (Not by personal choice...)

LOL! I'll have to check that one out. We're mostly listening to Laurie Berkner's stuff and Philadelphia Chickens.

Our little one likes the "Elmo's world" segment, but I could do without that cartoon woman who shrieks like a cafeteria lady. I FFwd through the rest of the episode.

"Put Down the Duckie" is the last song on the Silly Songs video. I have had that exact VCR video for 12 years and it is still entertaining babies at my house. Little ones love it.

When I watched the show, I had a crush on Maria (Sonia Manzano), and thought that her on-screen sorta romance with David (Northern Calloway) was for real. I was jealous. Calloway died in 1989, and while I don't know the reason, I do recall that he was booted off the show for some sort of un-childlike behavior.

My favorite bits were those with the Muppets, natch. Jim Henson (Kermit, Ernie, etc.) and Frank Oz (Oscar, Bert, Grover, Fozzie, Miss Piggy, etc.) deserve mention among the great comedy teams. Grover's turns as a waiter were always hilarious.

As much as I liked Sesame Street, the PBS show that I loved the most was The Electric Company. The talent on that show -- both on the screen and behind it -- was thick: Bill Cosby, a young Morgan Freeman (who says he hated every season save the first), Rita Moreno (still the only performer to win all four major awards), Hattie Winston (I'll Fly Away, Becker), Broadway actor Skip Hinnant, Jewish comedienne Judy Graubart, former child star Jim Boyd ("I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"), Irene Cara (Fame, won an Oscar for "What a Feeling!"). Writing the side-splitting skits for the show were Tom Whedon (Alice, Golden Girls), Thad Mumford (M*A*S*H), Paul Dooley, and others.

My fave of the Electric crew? That's easy. The Short Circus' asian cutie, June Angela.

Dude, that's a disturbing picture. How could you mess around with a childhood favorite of mine? At least it's not Barney the gay dinosaur. That dino is the reason dinos are extinct. They got sick and tired of that d*** song!

They were on today - with Big Bird and Maria. It was a weird flashback.

I was two when Sesame Street started, I grew up on it, so did both my boys. It is the only thing that rocks on PBS and I'm sure it's why I'm addicted to anything on TV that teaches me something, i.e. documentaries, History channel etc.

For my son's 1st birthday, he received a copy of Sesame Street's 25 Annivsary Celebration. There was this silly Batty Batty Bat song on it that I could never get out of my head. I would clean house singing Batty Batty Bat. But, my favorite memory is my little boy dancing around the den to En Vogue(sp?). I think the song was called Adventure. He was so so so CUTE!!!!!! He's nearly eleven now......(sigh).
