Channel 11 news staff ^

Posted on 11/12/2004 11:15:41 AM PST by Orange1998

KLOL, 101.1 FM announced Friday that station has changed formats. The station switched from a classic rock format to a Latino music format branded as Mega 101.

KLOL is now branded as Mega 101 FM. The station's web site was listed as under construction, but KLOL's former morning show hosts Walton and Johnson announced on their web site that they were informed Thursday night of the change.

The radio hosts stated on WaltonandJohnson.com that, "Thursday night Walton and Johnson were informed by lower-level management sources via a last-minute phone call that there would be no Walton and Johnson Show tomorrow. In it's place would be Hispanic music programs."

The information required from American Citizen is far more than Mexican Citizen. A bank catering to Mexican illegals only require ID from the Consulate General of Mexico.

No social security card? No drivers license..... NO PROBLEM.

Mexican immigrants wired 14 billion dollars last year out of the USA.

For what it's worth, Walton and Johnson was broadcast live on 99.5 in New Orleans this morning. I hope they come back to the Crescent City.

It wasn't very large . . . there was just enough room to cram the drums in the corner over by the Dodge.

Good for Chris, as the signal is stronger and can often be picked up in San Antonio and Austin, so he will have a much larger audience.

I have never liked Sissy Baker and I'm so glad I will not have to change the dial now to listen to Sean after Rush!

Larger audience for Sissy? Get real! This is a demotion for the guy, don't kid yourself!

I agree, I've never liked Sissy Baker! He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer and will always fall back on his Jerry Lewis act when confronted with a knowledgeable caller!

He really pissed me off the way he treated Dan Patrick's audience(me) when Clear Channel took over!

Somebody just shoot me.
There went the last listenable radio station in Houston.

KLOL was the reason I didn't have a CD player installed.

Just damn.

That was my station back in high school and college. I am deeply saddened.

Why would they demote him? The arbitron ratings that came out last week (or maybe the week before) put him at #1 for local. I admit it is risky to move the broadcast area's #1 hitter to another spot on the dial, but given his ratings they have no reason to be displeased with him. Not that clear channel always makes logical decisions ........ Anyway, I think it is great that we now have a choice and Hannity can be listened to live instead of on delay.

I didn't think Hannity was delayed on 740? I usually turn to 740 after Rush and he was on.

Most of Sissy's audience are there because of Rush. You think they will now turn the dial to listen to Baker instead of Sean Hannity? Baker isn't even good on local issues! You have to listen to Dan Patrick's 700AM to get the local scoop.

101.1 signal is the best signal in the area. I wish they would have left it alone. I have to figure out what other stations Clear Channel owns so that I can avoid them.

Did you notice on the 740 web site, Deborah Duncan will proceed Baker, 1-3pm.

I heard the newn on 950 KPRC. Tejano Rap????

Are they trying to freaking torture us? If Tejano radio is as entertaining as Tejano television then this ought to be good......{sarcasm}

Signs of the times I guess. - They must have money to spend. The only time I listened to KLOL was during the S&P years. That was some entertaining radio.

Oh well - guess Ill move somewhere where there are more white radio stations than Houston - like San Antonio......
