I'm sure you'll have a good time. Just be careful not to step in any, um, stuff that the bums leave on the sidewalk.
Last time we stayed in SOMA and some vagrants started chasing me. I didn't realize they had become violent since they started receiving so many handouts. The new mayor was supposed to clean up, but I saw lots of tent cities in July when I was there. The 'others' that heavily populate the city leave me alone, but they adore my hubby. My parents live right by Golden Gate Park so it's not too bad in that section.
